About the Author

Silva e Silva
Silva e Silva holds a degree in History from the Federal University of Viçosa. His academic background in the humanities has always been accompanied by a deep interest in literature and in reflecting on the experiences that shape youth.
The project that would become My Best Friend’s Saga began in 2015, while the author was still attending university. At that time, there were no defined characters or structured plot, but there was a clear purpose: to write a narrative that could be read within the family environment, shared between parents and children, and that would approach the dilemmas of adolescence with sensitivity.
The work was conceived with the intention of addressing experiences such as rejection, insecurity, internal conflict, and the discoveries inherent to youth, without losing sight of the power of friendship, resilience, and affection as transformative forces. Elements of the author’s personal experiences contributed to the construction of the narrative, lending emotional authenticity to the events portrayed.
Silva e Silva also worked as a teacher, and some of his experiences in the school environment served as references for the setting and for the development of the conflicts present in the book. His interaction with undergraduates broadened his understanding of the challenges faced during this stage of life, a perspective reflected in the construction of the characters.
Although the idea matured over several years, the book itself was written within a condensed period of one month, in January 2020, during a work vacation, when the author devoted himself exclusively to the project. In 2022, the work underwent a process of revision and rewriting, consolidating narrative and structural adjustments. The final edition was completed in 2025, the year of its first publication.
With My Best Friend’s Saga, Silva e Silva hopes to offer a narrative that inspires young readers and adolescents, while also bringing parents and children closer together through a story marked by love, friendship, and the capacity for resilience.
